 Not sure if corroborating users are useful or not, but I have the same
 error.  I haven't used xfig in about a month, so I'm not sure exactly when
 it would have started, but I got the exact same error this evening.

 The other day I noticed a whole bunch of new X windows stuff being built,
 so like the original poster, I rebuilt xfig and (I think) all the
 dependencies with port -f upgrade xfig.  Afterward, I still get the same
 error.

 MacBook Pro
 OS X 10.5.6
 2.16 GHz dual core
 2 GB RAM

 Macports version 1.7.0

 camus:~ bxf4$ uname -a
 Darwin camus.local 9.6.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.6.0: Mon Nov 24 17:37:00
 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.9.59~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

 camus:~ bxf4$ /opt/local/bin/gcc --version
 gcc (GCC) 4.3.3
