Comment:

 Can you try
 {{{
 sudo port clean --work firefox-x11
 sudo port -d install firefox-x11
 }}}
 and attach the output from the install attempt; the message you posted
 isn't helpful in tracking down why it failed.

 Also, what OS and Xcode versions are you using, and on which platform
 (Intel, PowerPC)?
