 I cannot explain why your /opt/local/var/db/mysql5 directory was not owned
 by mysql:mysql; it should be, since the mysql5 port has contained code to
 create the directory with that ownership since r13929.

 Note that the socket file does not usually go there; the socket file is
 supposed to go in /opt/local/var/run/mysql5
