 /opt/local/bin/python2.6 is a kind of front-end to:
 /opt/local/frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/Resources/Python.app/Contents/MacOS/Python.
 Try

 /opt/local/frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/Resources/Python.app/Contents/MacOS/Python
 }}}

 It should work.
