 Downloading and decompressing works fine for me both ways, Terminal and
 GUI. Anyway, see the new attachments.

 However, these files now come without the containing folders, and some of
 these rely on patches in the port's respective '''files''' subdir. So, the
 process would be to go to
 '''/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/python/''',
 copy the respective ports from their py26 version, and replace the
 Portfiles.
