 I can confirm your problem. I have the same problem building asymptote.

 The complete main.log for building geomview is attached. I think the
 problem starts with

 :info:build  restricted \write18 enabled.
 :info:build ---! /Users/admin/.texlive2010/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/etex.fmt

 Any ideas from our TeX experts?
