Comment:

 For both of you, the relevant error in all that output is:

 {{{
 :info:build ../dist/../libdb_java/db_java_wrap.c:123:17: error: jni.h: No
 such file or directory
 }}}

 This is the old "db46 requires the Java for Mac OS X development headers"
 error. I was told Mac OS X 10.6.7 clears up this error by once again
 including the needed header in Mac OS X itself, instead of requiring a
 separate development package. (And I see both of you are running Darwin
 10.7.3, which I believe is a machine-specific version of Mac OS X 10.6.7.)
 Perhaps that is why the port did not print the error message. However,
 perhaps the real underlying problem still exists. Does it go away if you
 install the Java development headers? For Snow Leopard, the correct
 package to install is https://connect.apple.com/cgi-
 bin/WebObjects/MemberSite.woa/wa/getSoftware?bundleID=20719
