Comment:

 I was not aware of mandelbulber but if you'd like to file a port request
 ticket for it, feel free. I downloaded their 1.09 Mac installer and
 confirmed by reading their install script that yes, they have a bundled
 copy of some compiled binaries, and simply copy these to /opt/local,
 overwriting anything that might already be there (i.e. via MacPorts). We
 very much wish they would fix their installer to install files into any
 other location so that they would not conflict with MacPorts. I have filed
 a

 bug report] with them asking them to do this.
