 I'm trying to use node-ffi (https://github.com/rbranson/node-ffi) to
 create JS bindings for libpurple, apparently node-ffi looks for the static
 library.
 I compiled from source using the --enable-static option and it generated
 the .a and node-ffi did load it.
 After that I tried modifying the Portfile for pidgin to include --enable-
 static, but it didn't generated the .a .
 I definitely would like to use the macports'  version instead of the one I
 built.

 Any ideas?
