Comment(by vince@…):

 The log suggests that gcc45 might be outdated for the Sandy bridge line of
 processors: the gas45 assembler seems not to be aware of the brand new AVX
 instructions atlas already uses. Try to build gcc46 and use the +gcc46
 option instead.
