 Thanks for your reply -- and for keeping CGAL up to date on MacPorts!

 I was successful at getting CGAL to work with Scilab by using the "Atoms
 Module" called CGLAB.  It took some doing, but after setting a few of the
 environment variables it worked.  I reported my approach on the
 Scilab/Forge website.
