 I have a brand-new MacBook Pro running 10.7.2.  I wanted to install GIMP,
 so I installed MacPorts from the AppStore and then called "sudo port
 install gimp" from Terminal.  I saw a huge list of dependencies, which
 MacPorts diligently chipped away at for hours.  But it seemed to have hung
 up at the following point in the process:

 --->  Fetching archive for sane-backends
 --->  Attempting to fetch sane-backends-1.0.22_1.darwin_11.x86_64.tbz2
 from http://packages.macports.org/sane-backends
 --->  Fetching sane-backends
 --->  Attempting to fetch sane-backends-1.0.22.tar.gz from
 http://distfiles.macports.org/sane-backends
 --->  Verifying checksum(s) for sane-backends
 --->  Extracting sane-backends
 --->  Applying patches to sane-backends
 --->  Configuring sane-backends
 --->  Building sane-backends

 It had been a few hours, so I hit control-C and then called "sudo port
 install gimp" again.  Happily, this time the list of dependencies was very
 short:

 --->  Dependencies to be installed: xsane sane-backends

 So I left the computer to run overnight.  But when I returned to my
 computer this morning I saw that it had been hanging at the following line
 for at least ten hours:

 --->  Computing dependencies for gimp
 --->  Dependencies to be installed: xsane sane-backends
 --->  Building sane-backends

 Can anyone help me diagnose the problem?
