 Thank you for your reply.

 So I ran sudo port clean zlib and sudo port clean md5sha1sum. Then I tried
 to install using sudo port install md5sha1sum. I've attached the resulting
 log.

 Issue #2: I don't know why my log shows that I'm building for i386 and
 ppc. This sounds like it could be a problem. How do I fix this?
