 Yes, I was able to get things moving forward by updating glib2.  But then
 something else failed, so I updated that, and then something else
 failed,....  I appear to be slowly rolling the boulder uphill.

 So I'll keep working on that, but I agree with you, I don't understand why
 glib2 failed in the first place.  It was a clean wine install fresh after
 a clean MacPorts install and update.
