 MacPorts never sets the CC environment variable outside of the configure
 phase unless you tell it to in the Portfile. The UsingTheRightCompiler
 page provides some suggestions. You can also search all Portfiles for
 those using "`use_configure no`" to see how they handle it; build systems
 differ and different ports might need different fixes.
