 Replying to [comment:64 jeremyhu@…]:

 It's not "invalid" for a user to use a root login instead of `sudo`. A
 change Apple made in Mountain Lion made this no longer work, in some
 cases. And you've worked around it in base. So it's valid issue, that has
 now been fixed.
