 I already had at least once after the upgrade and Xcode upgrade. However,
 it had somehow been uninstalled automatically without my knowledge.

 May I suggest a check in the port command to see if this has happened and
 an error given. I'm sure it would save a great deal of your time and
 effort as much as anything else.
