 The logfile looks weird to me. First, it contains lines that I can't
 explain, e.g. ":info:main .:debug:main xorg-videoproto has no conflicts".
 Second, it contains no information whatsoever what went wrong.

 Can you try running `sudo port clean vlc`, `sudo port -v selfupdate` and
 try again? If you see any error messages during the selfupdate, please
 attach the output of this command.
