 the Info-directory-list should point to the emacs installed info
 (/opt/local/share/info). I do agree to appending /usr/share/info, it just
 should be after /opt/local/share/info).

 The command line tool has the same problem - /opt/local/bin/info should
 open /opt/local/share/info - not /usr/share/info
