 I think this is the problem.  You don't seem to have dbus enabled and
 running.  Because of this it can't access the gsettings. Try this
 {{{
 sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-
 system.plist
 launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist
 }}}

 Then try running evince again
