 In comment:5 it was already noted that fallback should not be needed. In
 the meantime Jeremy figured out that `libc++` doesn't work with default
 compiler on < 10.7 either (see r131111). I'm speculating that blacklisting
 compilers would solve the issue there as well, but we cannot be sure
 unless we try.
