#49245: Cannot Run Selfupdate

--------------------+--------------------------------
 I just upgrade a Yosemite computer to El Capitan. As part of this, I
 upgraded my macports with the .pkg installer, deleted my existing ports,
 and tried to reinstall.

 I was given a message that I should run selfupdate, which gave an error of
 "port selfupdate failed". I set up macports on a new machine with El
 Capitan just last week with minimal issues, so I figured there was an
 issue with residual Yosemite macports junk remaining. So, I did a
 complete uninstall as recommended, and installed again from the .pkg file.

 The error I'm getting is:
 {{{
 > sudo port selfupdate
 ---> Updating MacPorts base sources using rsync
 Error: Failed to verify signature for MacPorts source!
 Please run `port -v selfupdate' for details.
 Error: /opt/local/bin/port: port selfupdate failed: Failed to verify
 signature for MacPorts source!
 }}}

 Using the -v flag as suggested, I get:
 {{{
 ---> Updating MacPorts base sources using rsync
 receiving file list ... done

 sent 36 bytes  received 69 bytes  70.00 bytes/sec
 total size is 27013120 speedup is 257267.81
 receiving file list ... done

 sent 36 bytes  received 76 bytes  224.00 bytes/sec
 total size is 512 speedup is 4.57
 Error: Failed to verify signature for MacPorts source!
 To report a bug, follow the instructions in the guide:
     http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets
 Error: /opt/local/bin/port: port selfupdate failed: Failed to verify

 }}}

 Finally, running the -d flag gives the following:
 {{{
 DEBUG: Copying /Users/andy/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dt.Xcode.plist to
 /opt/local/var/macports/home/Library/Preferences
 DEBUG: MacPorts sources location:

 If it helps, I've tried doing a selfupdate on the machine I set up
 successfully last week, and it gives the same error. Is there something
 about the SSL certificate that needs to be updated?
