 MacPort's `htop` is a fork is based on the original htop 0.8.x sources
 from 2009. The forking was somehow necessitated by the fact that the
 original sources were Linux-centric and not truely portable to other
 platforms.

 The original author earlier this year has released htop 2.0 with many
 feature improvements, but also with a cleaned up code base to ease should
 portability to other platforms than Linux, including Mac OS X.

 (It may even be feasible to MacPort-ify this as a separate port,
 `htop2`...)
