 I see now that the 0.8 tarball is missing the error.h header, and has
 build errors due to the use of 64-bit types that aren't present on macOS.
 Both problems are fixed in the developer's GitHub repository and tagged as
 0.9 there. Although 0.8 is still listed as the latest stable version
 there, I assume that is an oversight, and will update the port to 0.9.
