 Throwing out random other ideas of things that would avoid this in the
 future: Switch MacPorts base syncing to HTTP downloads and ports syncing
 to Git in MacPorts base, add git mirrors and code that will fall back to
 those if syncing fails.

 We could also look into using services such as bintray to host our
 distfiles and packages.
