 when opening a ps file, a window opens, but the mouse shows the clock
 timer indicating it is still loading, but this never goes away and only
 whitespace is displayed.

 seems to be unique to apple silicon b/c I have an older intel machine
 running same OS (ventura 13.6.3) and no problems there.
