 All I can say to that is that Leopard's `rm` was sufficiently bug-free to
 pass POSIX certification and to be shipped to millions of customers for
 years without a problem having been noticed. So whatever alleged bug is
 being triggered here is due to unusual usage by gnulib and it would be
 reasonable for gnulib to work around that. But it's clear the developer of
 gnulib has no interest in helping us with this. If we could find the
 problem in the gnulib code and develop a simple fix, I suspect Paul might
 accept it but that we're on our own with figuring it out.
