 I am afraid some rather archaic code needs to be dug out to make it work

 I will check what is going on with Sonoma now.

 P. S. By the way, how do I check `pulseaudio` on its own, without VLC? Who
 know how messed is VLC code, it may not be PulseAudio bug after all.
