However, there is still the issue about duplicate files between py-tz  
and py-matplotlib, where the latter even depends on py-tz:

sudo port upgrade installed
--->  Fetching py-tz
--->  Attempting to fetch pytz-2007c.tar.bz2 from http:// 
cheeseshop.python.org/packages/source/p/pytz/
--->  Verifying checksum(s) for py-tz
--->  Extracting py-tz
--->  Configuring py-tz
--->  Building py-tz with target build
--->  Staging py-tz into destroot
--->  Installing py-tz 2007c_0
--->  Activating py-tz 2007c_0
Error: Target com.apple.activate returned: Image error: /opt/local/ 
lib/python2.4/site-packages/pytz/__init__.py is being used by the  
active py-matplotlib port.  Please deactivate this port first, or use  
the -f flag to force the activation.
