Problem compiling / installing octave

I'm still having trouble - it appears that port was not outdated.

Here's the text of what I did:

stephen-dones-computer:~ srdone$ sudo port selfupdate
Password:
DarwinPorts base version 1.430 installed
Downloaded MacPorts base version 1.430
The MacPorts installation is not outdated and so was not updated
selfupdate done!
stephen-dones-computer:~ srdone$ sudo port install octave
--->  Configuring gmp
Error: Target com.apple.configure returned: can't read
