Ok. Another option might be to file an enhancement request ticket in  
our issue tracker and assign it to the maintainer of the lablgtk2  
port. Maybe this feature would be useful to have in the port.

Simply set the environment variable in the terminal by typing:

export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/local/lib/pkgconfig

You may also need to set:

export CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/local/include

export LDFLAGS=-L/opt/local/lib
