can't find rsync?

I'm trying to build another package (git-core) which requires rsync,  
and it seems to be missing from the 10 or places that it tries to  
download from, such as:

--->  Attempting to fetch rsync-2.6.9.tar.gz from http://samba.org/ftp/rsync/

any idea what's up with that?
