Which OS X version is a port good for?

Ports that are known to not work on a particular OS version or architecture should contain a block that prevents building or even fetching the port on those systems. I guess the maintainer of gcc46 does not know that it doesn't work on Tiger, so you should file a bug report telling him that so that he can add the aforementioned block to it, or better yet fix the problem.
