Why does MacPorts Mercurial behave differently from Windows Mercurial?

It doesn't look like there is anything tricky going on in the
Mercurial Portfile, I'd bet on an upstream bug. It would be nice to
try the Selenic build as another data point though. I won't get a
chance for several hours in case anyone else wants to get to it first.
