Byobu on Mac OS X Lion

I was hunting for a program called `byobu` a replacement for Gnu Screen. Found the following

A note in the comments indicated that `byobu` exists in homebrew, so I checked macports hoping it might be there as well. Alas. Any suggestions on how one could install byobu? Seems like it also has some Python dependencies.
