emacs-mac-app port build failure

Hello,

I wanted to de-install and re-install Emacs on my mac (10.5.8). I de- 
installed Emacs.app by simply deleting the contents. I then downloaded  
the emacsformac dmg installer but it just doesn't work: the  
application crashes at launch. I tried installing through macports and  
it fails to build.

Error: org.macports.build for port emacs-mac-app returned: command  
execution failed Please see the log file for port emacs-mac-app for  
details:

  Error: Processing of port emacs-mac-app failed

After that, I tried looking for other emacs related files on my  
computer in case they were conflicting with the new ones (so removing / 
usr/bin/emacs and /usr/share/emacs), but that didn't help.

Thanks for any tips! I am befuddled
