changing default perl

Could we just decide that /opt/local/bin/perl always is a symlink to a
specific version, e.g. 5.18? But I guess that would effectively mean
removing the other perl versions completely.

What was the reason to not do that again? I'd rather have one supported
version than 5 more-or-less supported versions.
