The page in question does include two JavaScript files, but they only serve to handle the admin menu, to which nobody except the MacPorts managers has access anyway. So yes, JavaScript is required for us managers to access the admin menu, but other than that, I don't think JavaScript is used in the MacPorts web sites, and Java isn't used either.
