Installing an X11-based program will only install the client libraries, since you may have a server via XQuartz or an older OS X release, or even be intending to use it via SSH forwarding from e.g. Linux.</div><div class="gmail_extra"><br class=""></div><div class="gmail_extra">If you want to install a server via MacPorts, install the xorg-server and xinit ports. You will have to log out and back in to activate the launchd hooks that actually start the server.
