I think we can avoid that, but otherwise, yes we will do that. I want  
this to be the most transparent possible for the developer.

That's weird, I do not reproduce this in my environment (trunk)

$ macruby -e "framework 'SyncServices'; p ISyncManager.sharedManager"

$ macirb

=> true
irb(main):002:0> ISyncManager.sharedManager
