 I tried using Leopard's default installation of ruby instead of
 /usr/local/bin/ruby, and I got more or less the same thing.  I *appears*
 to me that the first (and most significant?) error is
 readline.c:684: error: ‘filename_completion_function’ undeclared (first
 use in this function)
