Today I tried with the newest nightly build and I got:

dab:~ jdabel$ cd /Developer/Examples/Ruby/MacRuby/HotCocoa/graphics 
dab:graphics jdabel$ macruby particle.rb
Segmentation fault
dab:graphics jdabel$ macruby demo.rb

I would choose MacRuby for Hotcocoa!!!
