Your best bet it to turn off warnings are errors. Remove the -Werror option
in one of the rake config files (sorry don't have source right now and don't
remember which).

There are(were) further problems building with 10.5. And additionally some
runtime problems with text encodings that I didn't look at to closely.

In the end I decided it was a good excuse to finally upgrade to 10.6. :)
