Stop Klipper or disable the xpbproxy/XQuartz Pasteboard Proxy.

That could be the problem if Klipper and xpbproxy are taking the  
CLIPBOARD selection from each other continuously.  I think xpbproxy  
handles this, or did at one point.  I seem to recall having written  
the code for that, so perhaps Klipper doesn't follow the spec, or  
there is a mistake in xpbproxy.
