Oh, I see, I had to quit X11 manually (by force-quitting) and finish
via Installer.app. Then relaunching X11 showed an update to XQuartz
2.4.0_rc1 (xorg-server 1.5.3-apple12) AND there is now a Check for X11
updates... menu item.
