[Xquartz-dev] Speed of copying from Mac OS X to X11

Interesting.  I wonder what is bogging it down.  Unfortunately, I recall you're on ppc, so you're stuck on Leopard, and there's not much chance of anything like that getting fixed for Leopard.

When did this start to happen?  Perhaps you've got something mucking things up.
