[Xquartz-dev] Quitting XQuartz 2.7.0 (xorg-server 1.11.2) stalls Mac OS X 10.6.8

That sounds like a video card panic, and should have nothing to do with anything changer in Xquartz.  I did minor start/run xterm/quit testing on SL, and I never saw that.  Can you provide more details, like a system log?  Can you ssh into the system when it is in this state?
