Current version is 2.6.1 by the way. So I suggest that you use get the latest ports and try again. {{{ sudo port selfupdate sudo port -d install gimp }}} This should allow you to see whether it is doing something or not. And overnight might be a good time estimate depending on what hardware you have. The log file submitted above shows the building of normal dependencies that ran into this error: {{{ DEBUG: Executing org.macports.activate (p5-getopt-long) ---> Activating p5-getopt-long 2.37_0 Error: Target org.macports.activate returned: Image error: /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Getopt/Long.pm is being used by the active perl5.8 port. Currently the only used flag is `nosync` to prevent syncing with 'port sync'. It is used like this: {{{ rsync://rsync.macports.org/release/ports/ [nosync] }}} We could add new flags which describe inheritance of other port trees using name keys: `[name=bar,inherit=foo]`. (Side note: the name could also be used in `port info` and similar to indicate the source). Apple tries to make the OS reinstall a painless process for "normal" users, but it never seems that way for me. For example, it will probably archive away /Library/Tcl/macports1.0 which you're gonna need and should move back after archiving. There are also some ports that install into OS locations that will be archived away. php5+apache installs into /usr/libexec/httpd, I believe, and there are some X11 ports that install into ${x11prefix}. To combat this, you could save a list of active ports to the desktop with "`port installed active > ~/Desktop/activeports.txt`", then deactivate all ports with "`sudo port deactivate active`", then do the OS reinstall, then reactivate each port foo listed in activeports.txt with "`sudo port activate foo`". -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/13614#comment:18> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
