The exact message shows: `checking how to link with libintl... -lintl -liconv -lc -Wl,-framework -Wl,CoreFoundation` `checking for valgrind... no` `checking whether we are using the GNU C++ compiler... yes` `checking whether /usr/bin/g++-4.0 accepts -g... yes` `checking dependency style of /usr/bin/g++-4.0... gcc3` `checking whether /usr/bin/g++-4.0 builds executables that work... yes` `checking for Java virtual machine... java` I have cleaned the port and then attempted to upgrade the port from bison 2.4.2 to bison 2.4.3 with the same result. I had let this issue sit for over 24 hour periods, twice! And still the same result. I do not have GCC 4.2 installed from MacPorts; Apple's GCC 4.2 is installed, and used by GNUstep-base. Despite that, there are several references in the log to attempting to use MacPorts GCC 4.2: FFII library from /opt/local/include/gcc42 and /opt/local/lib/gcc42 is apparently used. What I mean by stuck is that the system just sort of hangs there (let it go for nearly an hour more than once, cleaning in between with "port clean atlas"). I've seen some messages (e.g. "needs lapack") that seem to be related, but don't really have a clue what to do about this? I'm new to macports (but not unix / linux) so maybe there are some "obvious" things to try on the mac?
