Apparently a newer version fixes the problem. See also http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-binutils/2011-01/msg00120.html I would like to request a new version of binutils (probably 2.21) that apparently fixes the problem. Debug log is attached. Changing the Portfile to add --with-cpu=i386_fpu to configure args when build_arch is i386 fixes it.
